Music of Indigenous Americans

 1. The Indigenous people of the Andes Mountains have many types of instruments, in class we talked about the drums and harps of the people of the area. I was interested in the flutes that were shown in one of the videos, so I started researching into the types of flutes they use. One that I found was called a quena. The quena is high pitched but has a strong timbre, and is a aerophone. They are typically made of wood and are played from the front similarly to an instrument like a recorder. My Music Culture

Hey everyone! My name is Gretchen Berry, and I have been an appreciator of music my entire life. I was apart of school choir up until 8th grade, and I have been learning to play the piano for the past 2 and a half years, but i have put that on pause for college. I like to think I listen to a diverse range of music but I think I tend to gravitate towards specific sounds and qualities in the music I listen to.  Currently I have been listening to mostly pop and rock music, but there are a few more specific genres within these that I have been listening to. I like to listen to some older pop, Asian pop (like k-pop or j-pop), indie pop and rock, and some classic rock, but i also generally like listening to any music that's currently popular. One of my favorite artists recently is Rina Sawayama. I love the sound of her music and I think the messages in her music are deep and I appreciate them.
